Slimband is an excellent program for overweight and moderately obese people, however it is not recommended for morbidly obese people. For the moderately obese patients however, the program works quite well, as the band can be adjusted to suit the weight loss as the patient follows the program. The only drawback is that the patient has to follow the guidelines as the band can easily slip if too much food is ingested. The procedure is also not covered under most Canadian health plans and the cost is very prohibitive for a lot of people, but they do have a payment plan option. I recommend if you are interested in this procedure to contact your doctor to see if it is right for you.
