BC Museum Of Mining

During our trip to Vancouver this weekend we visited the Museum. We visited on a Friday morning. It wasn't very busy for a Friday in November, I am guessing due to being off season. We thought that the museum was well done. The cost for children is around $13, adults being $20 and our 3 year old was free. Lots of stuff to do there. They have a short film that provides an introduction for the mine and some of the history. They have some mineral samples. There were a few hands on activities such as panning for gold that the kids really enjoy doing. It was really neat that you got to put your gold in a little baggy to take home. The highlight of our visit with the underground tour. It takes you on a short ride into the mine where they provide you with basic information. You stop, get off and they take you into the drilling room, turn on a drill for you (which is pretty loud). turn off the lights and provide a demonstration of different underground lighting. Overall, well done-we will go back again!
