Description

An Indian restaurant specializing in south Indian cuisine, situated in Toronto, Canada. Inaugurated in 1991 by famous Indian playback singers S.P Balasubrahmaniam and K.S Chitra, this family- owned restaurant has been offering Toronto a great selection of delicious dishes including crispy dosas, spongy iddlies, kerala appam, vegetarian thalis to biriyanis and various tandoori dishes. Our authentic home-style cooking uses only natural spices and ingredients, directly imported from India. We do not add artificial colorings or preservative. As a result, we can offer many sumptuous dishes that are lean, healthful, and low in fat.

My husband and I never would have gone into this restaurant had a neighbour not recommended it. From the outside, this restaurant isn't very appealing and really, it doesn't get much better when you go in. The food however, is outstanding! Everything tasted fresh; homemade! This was our first introduction to Indian cuisine, and not knowing what to eat we ordered a number of different items from the menu - dosa, pakora's, chicken biryani, masala tikka. We figured the dishes we're probably small as the prices listed on the menu for each of these items was cheap - boy were we wrong. We ordered way too much! We both sampled each dish until we were full, and we were given a doggy bag for the leftovers, which covered lunches for the next two days. The bill came to $37.00 with drinks. This restaurants only downfall is its decor. The windows look as though they haven't been cleaned in decades, and the interior is so dark. A coat of paint would go along way!
