Growing up, I was surrounding by a loving family that taught us many important values. One such important value was respecting and caring for our elders. We have much to learn from our elders including their values, traditions and their history. In addition, honesty and respecting other property are lessons commonly discussed with my parents. These are lessons I have adhered to in my everyday life as well as passing them down to my own children.
These lessons I grew up with have also steered my life to my current profession, Personal Support Worker. After completing my schooling, I have been taking care of seniors for the past seven wonderful years. I enjoy waking up every morning knowing that I will help someone in need that day. On advice from my Aunt, I treat everyone like they are family … like they are my very own Grandmother or Grandfather. As our seniors age, they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, to not fear that someone may take advantage of them and to know that someone is looking out for their health needs. At Lori’s Tender Loving Care, each client is treated like family each and every day.
