I called for a quote for an approximately 2 km taxi ride and was informed it would be about $16-20 because of the short distance there would be taxes and other charges added to make it worth while for the driver to accept the fare!!! What difference should it make how long the ride is? What is a disabled person to do when they are unable to walk this distance and certainly can not make it to a bus stop to take Guelph Transit when a medical appointment is required? Red Top Taxi quoted us approx. $ 6 and Canadian Cab quoted approx. $8 - what is wrong with this scenario???
