Living in a small rural town can make access to services a challenge. I chose By the Maitland as a name for my private practice because of my love for the Middle Maitland River and all of the life metaphors a winding river brings to mind. I have lived and worked in this community for 25 years and I am excited to be opening my office in North Perth. I completed my Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology in 2011 and I have been providing end-of-life, bereavement and trauma counselling for the last six years. I continue to look for new learning opportunities and I am looking forward to expanding my practice to a broader list of services. My experience in working with loss has created an intense awareness of the complex interconnection between past experiences and coping with the presence of any number of challenges such as anxiety, a history of depression, life-traps or even loss of self. My role as a counsellor will be to facilitate your own work to overcome difficulties by providing you with coping tools, strategies for self-care, reflections and understanding.
