Description

I am a Certifying Labour Doula through HALO (Healing Arts Learning Organization).
I have just recently decided to take this new path in my life as a way of helping moms and their families in their journey through pregnancy and birth. My hope is to help them achieve every wish they have for the birth of their new baby by educating and supporting them with their choices and providing them with the information they need to make this journey a pleasurable one. I have taken a couple different courses that I feel will better me as a Labour Doula. They are Advance Comfort Measures for Childbirth and First Aid at a HCP (Health Care Provider) Level taken through the Canadian Ski Patrol. I was Melissas first clientWe began speaking in mid December about two months before my due date with my first child February 11 2015. Then we met up about three times before my birth to discuss everything I wanted in my birth. I wanted all natural and had midwives for my health care at 40 wks drs suggested induction because my baby was big I didn't want to and with Melissas knowledge and support I continued with my pregnancy and after going to 41&5 days I had to be induced I was super nervous and after going to bgh the ob immediately began discussing c section because of my baby's above average size. My support person seemed pretty convinced by the Dr's reasoning and I still wanted to try natural. Because of Melissas support I stuck to my guns and had the {expletive} birth I wanted. My beautiful 10.8 pound daughter was born February 23@ 3.33 pm 12 days overdue after 5.5 hrs of Labour. If I didn't have Melissa I'm sure my birth would have been very different. She has visited me twice since my birth.
